The Security Awareness and Training Program (SATP) aims to build a culture of security at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½) by equipping our community with knowledge, practices and technologies needed to protect themselves and the University against information security threats.

The program includes a survey and training modules based on security awareness. These modules are manageable, and self-paced and will prepare you when it comes to information security threats. 

Eligible members of the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ community will be contacted to select new devices as part of the annual Computer Renewal Program (CRP).

Education Commons will ensure that all new devices are equipped with the necessary software and technology to support academic and administrative needs.

²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ public website are built using the Drupal content management system and will undergo a version update to improve accessibility, enhance security, and support future feature/component enhancements.

²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ website editors will experience a seamless editing process, with no noticeable changes during the update period. 

During Fall 2025, ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ will open a new Rooftop Garden exclusively for the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ community.

Education Commons is collaborating with the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ Space team to ensure the garden’s technology components operate smoothly and align with our sustainability values.

To maintain a secure computing environment for all Education Commons/²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½-issued devices connected to the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ wired and wireless networks, our team is currently upgrading eligible Windows 10 computers to Windows 11.

Users of eligible devices will be contacted directly with further instructions and consultations. 

In collaboration with the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ Chief Administrative Office, Education Commons is reviewing and enhancing departmental printing requirements and technologies across the ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ building. This initiative is driven by the upcoming expiration of the current printing agreement in 2025.

As sustainability priorities evolve and printing practices continue to shift in the post pandemic post-secondary educational environment, ²ÝÝ®ÎÛÊÓƵµ¼º½ has experienced a decreased reliance on traditional printing. 

The Doctoral Student Progress Tracking System is web-based system is designed to support faculty and staff in guiding students through key milestones in their doctoral journey, while also enhancing transparency for students by allowing them to view their academic information and monitor their own progress toward meeting final program requirements.
